The Double Decker

This is a new coop that I have designed and built. It has a grass area on the bottom and a sleeping/laying area on the top. It can hold 4 Giants, and about 7-8 bantams.

I have it on blocks and am keeping it indoors untill I sell it.

I am now breeding Jersey Giants instead of polish! The reason I switched to the Giants is because it seems more practicle to breed a dual purpose breed and not just an ornamental bird. Jersey Giants are breed that was specificaly bred for the table, it is an american breed where the crossing of Brahmas and Langshans was instrumental in its up comming. In the early 1900's It was not unusual for a cock to get up to 20 lbs, but today they are only about 11-15 pounds full grown.  The jersey giant makes a fine pet bird and it is also a good layer of large brown eggs. Do to there size they are very calm birds and donot tend to fly a whole lot; but this also might make it harder for a child who wants to hold the birds when they are all grown up.
