The New Brood
I had a Rouen hen that went broody and ended up hatching eight ducklings. They are mixed with a Black Swedish. I could have sworn that they were dead because she stayed off of them for a whole night at around the 23rd day. But they decided to live and only three eggs died. The hen was also attacked by a skunk trying to eat the eggs but she managed to fight him off and only smelled like skunk for a couple of days. She is very protective and will hiss and attack you if you are not careful.
Fresh ducklings are real nice too, if you can get to them with out being attacked by an angry mother.
